That One Song

I’ve played in many establishments, coffee houses and bars, but in one bar in particular there were several folks who would approach me with requests that were somewhat vague. They usually went something like this.

“Hey man, play that one song.”

“Which song is that” I’d ask.

“You know, that one song, by that one guy. Come on man I know you know it you played it once before.”

Then they would try to hum a few bars and that never worked. It got to the point where I’d just string them along for a few seconds and then say “Oh yeah, I know which one you mean.” And then I’d play what was next on the play list. After many such instances I decided to write a song called “That One Song” and this is the result of that effort. Now when they ask for that one song I play this. They seem to like it, generally.
